The acceptable year of the Lord
Counted in fifties from Adam, year 4000 is the 80th Jubilee, and this year is the 120th.
“To preach the acceptable year of the Lord … This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
One tick for each Jubilee since Adam.

Feast of Trumpets · the year begins21 August AD 26↗Day of Atonement · the Jubilee is proclaimed30 August AD 26↗Last day of the year19 August AD 27↗The Jubilee
The fiftieth year is the Jubilee, announced by trumpet on the Day of Atonement: “proclaim liberty throughout all the land” (Lev. 25:9–10). Counted in fifties from Adam, AM 4000 is the 80th Jubilee. On this timeline it runs from Trumpets, 21 August AD 26, to 19 August AD 27 (Julian), and its Day of Atonement is 30 August AD 26.
The proclamation
In the synagogue at Nazareth Yeshua read Isa. 61:1–2 — “to preach deliverance to the captives … to preach the acceptable year of the Lord” — and said, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears” (Luke 4:16–21). Isaiah's “liberty to the captives” is the Jubilee's own word, liberty (Lev. 25:10).
The year in the Gospels
Yeshua “began to be about thirty years of age” (Luke 3:23): born 4 BC, He was in His thirtieth year in AD 26/27. John began in the fifteenth year of Tiberius (Luke 3:1), which is AD 26/27 counted from Tiberius's co-regency with Augustus in AD 12. At the first Passover the Temple had been “forty and six years” in building (John 2:20); Herod began it in 20/19 BC, which brings that Passover to AD 27/28.
Forty Jubilees on
AM 6000 is the 120th Jubilee: 16 September 2026 to 14 September 2027, with its Day of Atonement on 25 September 2026.

Seven notes on the numbers
The same notes that open along the line, together. Every reference opens in STEP Bible.
①Flood to Abraham
Arphaxad was born “two years after the flood” (Gen. 11:10), AM 1658. Adding the ages in Gen. 11:12–24 — 35, 30, 34, 30, 32, 30 and 29 — Terah is born AM 1878. Abraham is born when Terah is 130 (note ②): AM 2008, 352 years after the Flood.
②Terah was 130
Gen. 11:26 names three sons at Terah's 70, as Gen. 5:32 names Noah's three at 500: it marks when the sons began, not Abram's own birth. Acts 7:4 says Abram left Haran after Terah died, and Terah died at 205 (Gen. 11:32); Abram was then 75 (Gen. 12:4). So Terah was 205 − 75 = 130 when Abram was born. Read as 70, the count would be 60 years shorter.
③The 430 years
Exod. 12:40–41 counts 430 years to the Exodus, ending “the selfsame day”, and Gal. 3:17 starts them at the covenant. God made that covenant in Gen. 15:18, the day He promised Abram a seed and the land. Abram entered Canaan at 75 (Gen. 12:4–5) and was 85 when Hagar was given, “after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land” (Gen. 16:3), so the covenant is placed at 85: AM 2093, and the Exodus is AM 2093 + 430 = AM 2523. The first part was spent in Canaan: 15 more years until Isaac was born, Isaac was 60 when Jacob was born, and Jacob was 130 when he went down to Egypt — 15 + 60 + 130 = 205 years. That leaves 430 − 205 = 225 years in Egypt. The family line allows it: Kohath was already born when Jacob went down (Gen. 46:11) and lived 133 years, his son Amram lived 137, and Amram's son Moses was 80 at the Exodus (Exod. 6:16–20; 7:7) — 350 years at the very most. The 400 years of Gen. 15:13, spoken the same day, give the span in round numbers; Levi, Kohath, Amram and Moses are the four generations of Gen. 15:16.
15 to Isaac's birth · 60 to Jacob's birth · 130 to Jacob's descent · 225 in Egypt = 430
④Exodus to the fall
Solomon began the Temple in the 480th year after the Exodus, the fourth of his reign (1 Kings 6:1). Ezek. 4:5 gives 390 years for the iniquity of the house of Israel; counted from Solomon's accession to Jerusalem's fall in 586 BC, they put Solomon at 976 BC and the Temple at 972 BC, 386 years before the fall. 972 + 480 = Exodus 1452 BC.
⑤Counting BC and AD
The years from Adam are counted from year 1, Adam's first year, 3974 BC. There is no year zero: AM 3974 is 1 BC and AM 3975 is AD 1, so AD 70 = AM 4044, 1517 = AM 5491 and 2026 = AM 6000.
⑥The seventy years
Jerusalem fell in 586 BC and the Second Temple was finished in 516/515 BC (Ezra 6:15) — the 70 years of Zech. 1:12. Cyrus took Babylon in October 539 BC and gave his decree in 538 BC (Ezra 1:1); Jeremiah's 70 years for Babylon (Jer. 25:11; 29:10) run 605 – 539/538 BC.
⑦The Maccabees to Christ
The Maccabean revolt began in 167 BC and the Temple was rededicated in 164 BC (Hanukkah). Christ was born in 4 BC, while Herod was still alive (Matt. 2:1); Herod died that year.
Five chronologies, seven ages
Ussher, the Geneva Bible, the DSS Calendar, Leeland Jones and our calendar, each on its own years from Adam, in the colours of the ages above.
To Solomon's Temple three agree within five years (AM 2928–2933); Ussher (2992) and our calendar (3003) run 60 longer by reading Terah 130 from Acts 7:4.
The kings (Temple to the fall, 386–424 years) and the fixed point then set the Temple at 1012, 1045, 998, 972 or 972 BC and Creation at 4004, 3974, 3926, 3904 or 3974 BC.
Our calendar fixes Creation by the sky, not by sums: Day 1 at the Saturday sunset of 28 Jul 3974 BC, the only Rev 12 sign in 8,030 years. Its sums (Terah 130, the covenant at 85) land on it.

Each column is one chronology on its own years from Adam, all on one scale. Its line and dates take the colour of the age they fall in by its own reckoning: its Flood, start of the 430 years, Exodus, Temple, fall of Jerusalem and the seventy years after it, then AD 1. Hollow dots and * : its arithmetic applied to a historical date, not in the source. The left bar is our calendar’s BC and AD; the right counts the years from Adam and the Jubilees.

Where they differ
Flood to the covenant
①Terah 70 or 130
Gen. 11:26 names Abram first of three sons at Terah's 70; Acts 7:4 has Abram leave Haran after Terah died at 205 (Gen. 11:32), aged 75 (Gen. 12:4) — born at Terah's 130. Ussher and our calendar read 130; the Geneva compiler, the DSS site and Jones read 70. Sixty years, the largest single difference.
Covenant to the Exodus
②Where the 430 begin
All five run Exod. 12:40's 430 years to the Exodus from a promise to Abram (Gal. 3:17), not from Jacob's descent: Geneva from his leaving Ur and the DSS site from the covenant, both at 70 (Seder Olam); Ussher from the call and Jones from the promise, at 75; ours from the covenant of Gen. 15:18, placed at 85 by Gen. 16:3's ten years in the land. Up to 15 years. The 2017 chart had 215 + 400; Jones's own texts give 430.
Temple to Jerusalem's fall
③Short or long kings
Exodus to the Temple is 480 in all five (Ussher 479, the 480th year). Temple to Jerusalem's fall divides them. Judah's reigns summed raw, with no co-regencies, give the long kings: Ussher 424 (with interregna), Geneva 419½, Seder Olam 410 (the DSS site). Ezekiel's 390 (Ezek. 4:5) from Solomon's accession gives 386: Jones and ours. Thiele's Assyrian-dated reigns give 380, which our review of the 2017 chart applied and Jones does not. Up to 44 years.
Desolation to Temple rebuilt
④The fixed point
Four tie the sums to Jerusalem's fall: Ussher 588 BC (Ptolemy's canon; Cyrus 536 BC for Jeremiah's 70 from 606; Christ 4 BC, hence his round AM 4000), the DSS site 588/7 BC (Seder Olam), Jones and ours 586 BC (Nebuchadnezzar's 19th year). Geneva has none: it sums forward from Adam to Christ, so its Jerusalem falls in 626 BC, forty years early.
Adam to AD 1
⑤How they add up
Against our 3975 years to AD 1 — Ussher +29: kings +38, fixed point +2, the call −10, 479th −1 (his autumn years make it 4004). Geneva −½: Terah −59, Ur −15, kings +33½, no fixed point +40 — the same year by cancellation. DSS −49: Terah −60, covenant −15, kings +24, fixed point +2. Jones −70: Terah −60, promise −10. Hence Creation 4004, 3974, 3926, 3904 and 3974 BC.

Creation Timeline
Chronologies Compared
Other reckonings. Ussher (1650) puts Creation at 4004 BC. The 1560 Geneva Bible puts it at 3974 BC, the same year as this timeline, though by different sums.
The year. Years run from the Feast of Trumpets to the next, so AM 6000 is 16 September 2026 to 14 September 2027. Scripture is quoted from the King James Version.
